DSD Phones Home

Parents/guardians and students.: Many of you have already received phone calls, emails, Google Classroom invites, or other communication from classroom teachers. In the coming days you will receive contact from one of our District paraprofessionals. Paras will be working with teachers and administration to provide an extra layer of support to students at this critical time. We want to make sure that no one is left behind during this closure. That includes academics, as well as food services, material needs, social emotional supports, or questions for the school. We will continue to refine the process in the coming days. If you get a call from a staff member or from an unfamiliar number, please know why we are calling, and respond as soon as possible. We will all get through this together, and together, we will work to help students learn.

Meals on Wheels Update

The District is committed to addressing food insecurity during the COVID-19 outbreak.  More great news on day 3 of deliveries: we provided 189 students with meals today.  That is over twice as many as our first delivery day Monday, and over six times as many as our first day!  We appreciate our community for your flexibility and communication in coordinating the lunch deliveries. A special thank you 6to the student that brought flowers for our drivers today. Thank you to our food service and transportation staff for your hard work in expanding meal service to our bus route areas. If you have questions or need more information, please email our Lead Driver Toni Lenon at tkernaghan@dsd.k12.wa.us.

Stay Home, Stay Healthy

Gov. Inslee announced a Stay Home, Stay Healthy order Monday evening. The rest of our staff will work from home, supporting educational resources and supports for students. Our offices will be closed during this order. Meals on Wheels, Lunch Service Update

I’m really proud that our District continues to find new ways to address food insecurity during the COVID-19 outbreak. Thank you to our food service and transportation staff for your hard work in expanding meal service to our bus route areas. Today we supplied 98 students with meals, including 52 meals on wheels. We really appreciate the positive comments and smiles and waves we received during today’s lunch service. Drivers will be in contact with families regularly as we refine the drop-off times for lunches. If you have questions or need more information, please email our Lead Driver Toni Lenon at tkernaghan@dsd.k12.wa.us.
