About
Why establish a Darrington High School Hall of Fame?
Darrington has had so many outstanding athletes, coaches, teams, school staff and community members over the years. We have numerous trophies and banners to show our victories, but we are missing the names and pictures of those who have contributed in various ways in filling up our trophy case.
A committee was formed and decided to perpetuate the memory of those special people who brought honor to our school and have served as role models for present and future generations. We have established by-laws by which we will follow certain criteria to select not only by the athleticism, but by their citizenship, outstanding leadership and other worthy contributions to our high school.
The Darrington community will be able to nominate worthy candidates, which are then sent to the selections committee for final selection. The candidates that are chosen will be inducted and those nominees not selected, their information will be kept on file for consideration for the next five years. After 5 years, those not inducted will/may be placed on an honorable plaque.
Criteria for eligibility:
All candidates are judged on their significant and long-term contributions to Darrington High School athletics.
They must have excelled in the field of sports, coaching, support and contribution as school and or community personnel. Longevity, (playing a number of years) without significant or unusual accomplishments, does not constitute recognition for Hall of Fame consideration.
Candidates may be living or deceased.
Athletes must be a Darrington graduate and have been out of school for five (5) years, played at least three (3) years and lettered in three (3) sports. They must have also received league, district, regional or state recognition.
Coaches must have coached a minimum of five (5) years and be considered on the basis of their coaching and team achievement at Darrington High School.
School officials and community members will be considered on the basis of their support and contributions, through financial, volunteerism, construction, coaching and leadership.
Teams will be selected on outstanding and or unusual accomplishment.
