As of February 25, 2020, Darrington School District joined the American Forest Resource Council, Concrete, Quillayute Valley, & Naselle-Grays Harbor SD’s, Pacific, Skamania, Mason and Lewis Counties, and several other municipal organizations in a lawsuit against the State of Washington Department of Natural Resources.
The lawsuit is a response to DNR’s proposed timber harvest schedule, which would radically diminish harvests on public trust land over the next decade. Forest products are the number one employer in our community, and the District strongly supports our community members in this industry.
District policy is to not comment on pending legal action. We have been working with other stakeholders since December take legal action. We are pleased to stand with AFRC and local timber industry.
