A few announcements in regard to end of the year events for Darrington High School Class of 2020. This group of students have experienced more upheaval in their 18 years than many of us have in our entire lives. Graduation is a time that students look forward to for many many years and this once-in-a-lifetime experience should be celebrated with as much fanfare as possible! With this in mind, it is the district's decision to postpone a formal graduation ceremony until we are allowed to have gatherings of a reasonable size to accommodate our students, their families, and community members. We will keep you all updated throughout the summer as we move through the phases for re-opening the State.
Our seniors, while wanting to have a traditional graduation ceremony, also want to honor the date and time of their originally planned ceremony. Parents and students have arranged a parade to be held in town beginning at 1pm on Saturday, June, 6, 2020. The parents have asked that all seniors be at the Assembly of God Church in town at 12:30pm to prepare for the parade. Any students participating should plan on riding in their own vehicle or in a vehicle with their household members to maintain proper social distancing. The fire department will be leading them through the parade route which will be posted soon by the parent group leading this activity. While this is not a school event, all staff of Darrington School District are invited to come help us celebrate the hard work and perseverance of the Class of 2020!
