Information for Darrington School Board Candidates Now Available

Information for community members interested in running for the ​Darrington School Board this year is now available. Board members typically serve a term of four years. There are two positions that are up for election this year:

·         Director-at-Large Position 4 

·         Director-at-Large Position 5

A school board candidate must be a registered voter and reside within the school district boundaries. The Director-at-Large positions do not have specific boundaries within the school district. Our district website contains a map of the school district boundaries which lie in the valley from Skaglund’s Hill to the Government Bridge on Hwy 530 towards Rockport including all of Sauk Prairie and Swede Heaven, and up the Mountain Loop Highway.  

The school board establishes general policy for the school system; employs school personnel upon recommendation of the superintendent; adopts and revises the annual operating budget; informs the public of the needs and progress of the educational system; administers school functions; and selects the superintendent of schools.

Online candidate filing opens on Monday, May 5 and closes on Friday, May 9 at 4:00 p.m. The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, August 5 and the General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 4.
